◐ Cheong Wa Dae (Presidential Blue House)

The signature markings of the Presidential Residence of Cheong Wa Dae are its blue tiles on the Main Office; it is the first thing to catch one's attention upon viewing the premises. Approximately 150 thousand tiles compose the roof of the Main Office. The blue tiles and the smoothly curving roofline blend beautifully with Bugaksan Mountain in the backdrop.

◐ Gyeongbokgung Palace & watch the changing of the guard ceremony

Gyeongbokgung Palace was built in 1395 as the official palace of the Joseon dynasty by Yi Seong-gye, the future King Taejo and founder of the new regime. Gyeongbokgung Palace is arguably the most beautiful and is the largest of all five palaces. Many Joseon kings were crowned here. Gyeongbokgung Palace retains the original Gyeonghoeru Pavilion, a prime example of Joseon architecture, and the Hyangwonjeong Pavilion and pond. The sculptures in the Geunjeongjeon Hall exemplify Joseon-era sculpture techniques.

◐ Cheonggyecheon Stream
Cheonggyecheon Stream is an 11 km-long stream that runs through downtown Seoul. Created as part of an urban renewal project, Cheonggyecheon Stream is a restoration of the stream that was once there during the Joseon Dynasty (1392-1910). The stream was covered with an elevated highway after the Korean War (1950-1953), as part of the country's post-war economic development. Then in 2003, the elevated highway was removed to restore the stream to its present form today. The stream starts from Cheonggye Plaza, a popular cultural arts venue, and passes under a total of 22 bridges before flowing into the Hangang River, with many attractions along the way.

 Insadong Cultural Street (Ssamzigil)
Just like a traditional cultural street allows you to do, you will be able to encounter the culture of Korea easily at Insadong. From fans, tobacco pipes, statues, calligraphy, to Korean traditional paintings, there's nothing you can't find here. Restaurants, tea houses, and other establishments are all tinged with the flavor of Korea. All sorts of Korean snacks such as rice cakes, bindaetteok (Korean pancake), and Makgeolli (rice wine) are all within an arm's reach as well. On weekends especially, Insadong is bustling with people of different skin colors and languages. I Another special part of Insadong is Ssamziegil. Opening in 2004, it is a complex cultural space with 50 different stores that sell handicraft items.

Suwon Hwaseong Fortress [UNESCO World Heritage]
Hwaseong is a piled-stone and brick fortress of the Joseon Dynasty that surrounds the centre of Suwon City, of Gyeonggi-do Province. It was built in the late 18th century by King Jeongjo for defensive purposes, to form a new political basis and to house the remains of his father, Crown Prince Jangheon. The massive walls of the fortress, which are 5.74 km in length, enclose an area of 130 ha and follow the topography of the land. The Suwoncheon, the main stream in Suwon, flows through the centre of the fortress. The Hwaseong Fortress has had a great influence on the development of Korean architecture, urban planning, and landscaping and related arts. It differed from the fortresses in China and Japan in that it combined military, political and commercial functions. Its design by Jeong Yakyong, a leading scholar of the School of Practical Learning, was characterized by careful planning, the combination of residential and defensive features, and the application of the latest scientific knowledge. It represents the pinnacle of 18th century military architecture, incorporating ideas from some of the best examples in Europe and East Asia. Hwaseong is also unique in that it covers both flat and hilly land, making use of the terrain for maximum defensive efficacy.

The village is set in greater Seoul in the vicinity of Yeonsinnae and Ilsan. If you take a snapshot from the middle of the road between the tall hanok structures, it'll give you the feeling of standing on the set of some historical film set during the Joseon Dynasty.
